State of Mankind

A New Way Of Thinking

Green Hell, The Economy

I think if we don’t overthrow capitalism, we don’t have a chance of saving the world ecologically.  I think it is possible to have an ecologically sound society under socialism.  I don’t think it’s possible under capitalism.” (Judi Bari, of Earth First!)

The answer to global warming is in the abolition of private property and production for human need.  A socialist world would place an enormous priority on alternative energy sources.  This is what ecologically minded socialists have been exploring for quite some time now.” (Louis Proyect, Columbia University)

The goal now is a socialist, redistributionist society, which is natures proper steward and society’s only hope.” (David Brower, Founder, Friends of the Earth)

We’ve got to ride the global warming issue.  Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing in terms of economic policy and environmental policy.” (Timothy Wirth, Head of Ted Turner’s UN Foundation, National Review, 27 Jan 1997, Pg. 10)

While I am not much of a capitalist, I am a huge fan of the free market because it is necessary for freedom and truth.  F. A. Hayek observed the dangers of scientific theory mixed with socialism:

Once science has to serve, not truth, but the interests of a class, a community, or a state, the sole task of argument and discussion is to vindicate and to spread still further the beliefs by which the whole life fo the community is directed.  As the Nazi minister of justice has explained, the question which every new scientific theory must ask itself is:  “Do I serve National Socialism for the greatest benefit of all?“” (The Road To Serfdom, Pg. 178)

The way in which, in the end, with few exceptions, her scholars and scientists put themselves readily at the service of the new rulers is one of the most depressing and shameful spectacles in the whole history of the rise of National Socialism.  It is well known that particularly the scientists and engineers, who had so loudly claimed to be on the march to a new and better world, submitted more readily than almost any other class to the new tyranny.” (The Road to Serfdom, Pgs. 200-201)

Now, from Quigley’s Tragedy & Hope describing our world:

“…but the scientists, stricken with horror at their success in releasing a force equivalent to 17,500 tons of TNT from about 12 pounds of plutonium, had had a glimpse of hell.  In that instant, many of them became politicians, convinced of the social responsibilities of science, especially to avoid war and to direct the unlimited power of science to human welfare.” (Page 812)

World War II brought science into government, and especially into war, and brought politics, economics, and social responsibility into science...” (Page 837)

Here you have all the information needed to see why the Global Warming or Climate Change issue has turned into an International Socialist and deceptive movement.
